CARL CASPER

Back to the Bricks®. is pleased to announce that HOMETOWN HERO, “Automotive King” CARL CASPER, will appear in person on the Flat Lot in Downtown Flint on FRIDAY, AUGUST 17, 2018 from 5 – 9 pm and SATURDAY, AUGUST 18th from 9am to 5pm. Starting quarterback, all-around athlete, and graduate of Flint Technical High School, Carl Casper used what he learned in machine shop, mechanical drawing, physics, and math to modify his first car before he had a driver’s license. The 1951 Chevrolet “EMPRESS” was Best in Show at the 1961 Detroit “Autorama,” launching Carl’s illustrious career as an award-winning designer and builder of custom automobiles and race cars. Since then, Carl Casper has produced, co-produced, or partnered in over 1,000 Car Shows in major cities across America. A self-proclaimed “health nut,” Casper credits his no-smoking, no-drinking, no-drugs approach to life for his ability to work circles around men 15 or 20 years his junior. His custom car creations include the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard, K.I.T.T. from the Knight Rider, the A-Team van, and at least 3 Batmobiles. The Empress will be on display this year during Back to the Bricks®. near the statues of the automotive pioneers along with one of Carl’s restored antique horse-drawn carriages. After the show, thanks to Casper’s generosity, the rare Durant-Dort road carriage will remain in Flint on loan to Factory One, the birthplace of General Motors.
