Celebrity Guest DONKMASTER

Racing is STEM in Action

This year Back to the Bricks® has partnered with the University of Michigan-Flint’s College of Innovation & Technology to offer participants and spectators a dazzling display of Racing is STEM in Action.

The Flat Lot is the main display area of the 20th anniversary festivities located between Kearsley and 1st Street running between Harrison and Saginaw Street. This year through this newly formed partnership, Back to the Bricks® will welcome celebrity guest, and TV superstar, the DONKMASTER, Sage Thomas to Flint Michigan.

Sage has created the world’s 1st sanctioned body for the sport of big wheel racing, using classic cars and STEM technology. The NDRA organizes and scales big wheel racing to create a truly national competition.  Racers participate in a fixed number of sanctioned races around the country competing for points. At the end of the season, champions will be crowned for each class.

Meet the DONKMASTER himself and see the other special displays with UM Flint’s College of Innovation & Technology featuring the Flint Soap Box Derby, RC Racing Cars for the Kids, and the UM-Flint Baja team, it’s a full display of fun, mobility, technology and should be exciting for all ages.

Meet the DONKMASTER

The Main Exhibit we call the “Flat Lot” is in Downtown Flint between Kearsley and 1st Street just off the Bricks of Saginaw Street. Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10 AM to 5 PM come and meet Sage Thomas the DONKMASTER where he will sign autographs and pose for pictures. Stop by, check out his cars, see the full display with our friends, and thank them all for being a part of Back to the Bricks® 20th Anniversary Celebration.

The man behind the racing series is Sage “Donkmaster” Thomas. Born in Georgia and raised in South Carolina, Thomas was exposed to the growing Donk scene as a teenager and never looked back. Thomas built his first Donk at age 16 and went straight into racing.

He founded his shop, In & Out Customs of North Charleston, South Carolina, to advance the development of Donk performance. He has also starred in a successful series of YouTube videos documenting his work. Today, he’s the foremost ambassador for the Donk style and Donk racing in America, delivering his trademark “gap sauce” to enthusiastic fans everywhere.
