DISCOVERING FLINT
AUGUST 15, 2020
DISCOVERING FLINT
Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to our previous Road Rallies, Back to the Bricks® and General Motors were proud to Present: DISCOVERING FLINT, an incredible FREE opportunity to discover Flint up close and personal as you cruise past the historic landmarks and iconic locations that are unique to the city we love.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Classic car lovers cruised with the Back to the Bricks® family through the Flint area on AUGUST 15, 2020 to join the fun, see the places, and learn about the people that made history. As always, participants were free to choose their own “stops” en route for refreshments and/or restrooms, and were strongly encouraged to follow all “social distancing” guidelines along the way.
READY TO ROLL
The journey began with a cruise through the Insight Institute of Neurosurgery & Neuroscience (IINN), 4800 S. Saginaw Street, Flint Michigan on Saturday, August 15, 2020 anytime from 8-10 AM where participants received an Official 2020 T-Shirt without leaving the safety of their vehicle. (One T-Shirt Per Car While Supplies Lasted – No Guarantee on Sizes).
En route, cruisers also received a FREE Back to the Bricks® Collector Magazine on the “Bricks” of Saginaw Street from the staff at ELGA Credit Union.
HISTORIC ROUTE
DISCOVERNG FLINT traveled past more than 30 historical landmarks and iconic locations that played an important role in the heritage of the “Vehicle City”. The exact itinerary and directions were NOT publicized to prevent crowds from congregating along the road, but were sent VIA EMAIL to those who had registered on Friday, August 14, 2020 for participants to PRINT AHEAD OF TIME in preparation for their journey.
LINKS TO LEARN MORE
This was NOT a parade or a race, and cruisers proceeded at their own pace. The directions printed off in advance included website links or QR codes for those that were interested in learning more about each historic landmark, the places, and people that made Flint what it is.
ROOT BEER & MORE
Our Historic Tour concluded at Catholic Charities where everyone received an all NEW Souvenir Bumper Sticker, specially designed for this event. Official Back to the Bricks® Merchandise was available for purchase on site at our booth UNTIL 3 PM, along with our exclusive limited production Back to the Bricks® Root Beer. Our root beer, a big hit with the crowds last summer, was back by popular demand, and was available for sale in 4 packs or by the case.
Participants were encouraged to continue to follow social distancing guidelines at the finish line, and limit their time in the parking lot to allow for everyone to complete the experience.
A PERFECT DAY
Whether you are new to the area, or have lived here for years, this was an incredible FREE opportunity to DISCOVER (or REDISCOVER) FLINT’S RICH HISTORY via this unique tour. It was a pleasure to enjoy our Michigan summer “on the road again” with our classic cars!
